"Cool" Adventure

Mom loaded up the Runner with all the essentials and we were off on a road trip. Not like the Great Adventure road trip, this one was only an hour down the road. Destination Landa Park's Doggie Dip Day at the natural spring-fed, COOL 72 degree pool. Plus I was going to meet Rocky in the fur for the first time.

Apparently the planning had been going on for two years. Year one was postponed by my 2nd bionic knee surgery. Year two the natural fed pool spring pool was flooded out. But today was the day! Meet my friend Rocky.

Rocky and I heard our Mom's talking, about all the big dogs running around like behemoths. There must have been 75 big dogs including about 5 or so little dogs, including me being the only pug. Visiting pug meet ups or the doggie park, I run off leash, not on this adventure.

As soon as Rocky's leash came off, poof, he was gone. I thought he would stay close to me so we could play in the water, but as you can see, I was watching him run away to play with the Big dogs.

Rocky had a great time running and running. If I was off leash, I would totally out run him. Hehee.

Posing on the blue lily pad, I realized, no one wanted to play with me. What's up with that... ?

Even though they can't be seen in the picture, I did find a school of small fish that would swim with me. My friends, did you notice what's missing in this picture?! Yep, that's right.. my life jacket! Take that big dogs, I didn't see you swimming like me, a real BIG Dog. You are little wimps for staying in the shallow, kiddie pool end. Except for Rocky, he's NOT a wimp. He would have gone swimming with me if he wasn't distracted by trying to socialize a couple of female dogs. Geez, boys! Hehee, snort.

Mom was super proud of me. So this adventure was fun after all. Especially after we got home and got extra treats for being such a good swimmer.

  1. Those "big" dogs are jerks. My little sister, Mochi, would totally swim with you!! (My humans are anxious to see how she swims, but she's gonna need a life jacket first!) I'd totally play with you--after you came out of the water though!! Heehee.... Looks like a lot of fun! So glad you had a good day!!!

  2. Hi Noodle!
Mom packed my life jacket, but I was swimming before she could put it on. Mochi would look adorable in a life jacket. Swimming with her would be fun, I could be her swim coach. Like Brandy was for me. I would totally play with you too.

    Hugs to you and Mochi,
    Suki

  3. Suki! I can't believe that not one of those dogs would play with you. The nerve! Like you said, boys will be boys. I bet they were just intimidated by you...they knew deep down that you could kick some major big dog butt and beat them at any race. I hope that some day we totally get to swim together! And that spring sounds like an awesome place to have fun. Here's to many more cool adventures for you!
    Love,
    Payton
PS. You have totally got to teach me how to keep the tush afloat when swimming without a vest on. Mine just keeps sinking! You rock, Suki!

  4. Holy stamped of buffalos! that is what those big dogs looked likes. Mum gets so freaked whens I get in amongst the bigger guys. The other day a big dog side swiped me and sent me rolling literally.

You totally rock in the water... look at you swimming you go girl!

  5. Wow, we are sure impressed by your swimming ability! Mack and I are NOT water friendly. We put up with taking a bath but don't like dog swims at all.

We agree that big dogs get rough and send us little guys rolling. Mack thinks he is a big dog...

  7. I'm sure your mom kept you on leash only so the big dogs wouldn't feel embarrassed of your awesome skills. Men's egos and all. Plus, they might have thought you were a bunny. It happens. It sure looked fun!

  8. Hi Payton,
I think your right, the boys were intimidated. You saw me running circles at Mom at the winery, I can run super fast.

To bad we don't live closer, I could be your swim coach.

    Hugs,
    Suki

  12. Hi Kitty & Coco,
Hehee, snort, the big dogs would totally be embarrassed, I would show them up in two shakes of a lambs tail.

Wow,a bunny, that sounds like it could have not so good consequences. Poor bunnies.

    Hugs,
    Suki

  13. Suki - looks like you had a great time. Probably best that you stayed away from those big dogs - they looked pretty wild. Glad you got to go for a nice little dip. I didn't know us pugs could swim without a floatie - you sure showed me it can be done. I'm impressed!

    -Love, Sid.

P.S. I like your little yellow bow!

The yellow ribbon is in honor of my Human Cousin. She is deployed overseas in the Air Force. "HUA!"
