Red Flag Warning

The weather is beyond broken. Yesterday was day 80 of at least 100 degrees, an all time record... Thinking it was going to be another scorcher, I slept in and lounged around. When I finally ventured outside, much to my surprise, it was cool and comfy.

10am, low humidity, could my summer hibernation process be finally over? Mom gathered up my harness and we were headed out the door. A walk with no melting temperatures, awesome. It was super windy on the walk, gusts up to 25-35mph. The weather man said it was a red flag warning day. Oh, this is not good...

Low humidity + super windy + brown & crispy= disaster... wild fires! Lake Travis has evacuated 4,000 humans and 25+ homes are destroyed. (I was there last weekend). Not to mention the homes burned in the sounding areas. Mom is really worried about me being home alone while she's at work. My bags are packed and I'm going to camp.

Much0-Kuddos to all the First Responders to their sacrifice in helping in a very difficult time.

  1. Suki, we are glad the temps are down, but unhappy to hear about the fire dangers. You are smart to go to camp for now.
Please keep us posted and we have our paws crossed for everyone in the danger zone!

    Drools and licks,
    Minnie and Mack

  2. You are adorable, Suki! Watching your video, I just kept thinking "Follow the red painted curb, follow the red painted curb"! You were taking care of business! And that ground is so brown and tan that if it wasn't for your pink harness, you'd almost blend in! Please keep us updated and stay safe...that's an order!
    Love,
    Payton

  3. We are worried about you and Gracie, all our friends in Texas. Those wildfires are scary. Glad you are headed somewhere safer for a while. Our mom would be freaking out with us at home and her not.

  4. Glad you're getting out of harm's way.

You really need to get into agility! The "curb walking" proves that you've got the skills.

My mom and I are thinking of coming to an agility trial in Austin in a month or so. We'll have to get together.

  5. Hi Minnie & Mack,
Camp was so much fun! The Camp Director is the best, we play & play all day long, with a few naps along the way.

Thank you for your concern regarding the fires. The Bastrop fire has burned over 600 homes & 30,000 acres. Mom has several co-workers that had to evacuate.

    Will keep you posted.
    Hugs,
    Suki

    Suki

  8. Hi Gracie,

It would be an honor to meet you in the fur & to see you in action in agility. Have your Mom send my Mom an email with the details & we can make it work. I'm so excited!

  10. Hi Wilma,

Wish you could send your rain my direction. Tropical Storm Nate made it into the Gulf of Mexico, hopefully he will change he course just a little and visit central Texas.
