The Orange Creature

My cousins are terrific, we had a great time together. They aren't use to spending time with a dog, let alone with a Pug whose nick name is "Wirey Cookie". At the same time, I haven't spent much time with kiddos, but when I do, it's as if I have been around kids my whole life. Mom say's I'm a kid friendly little pug. In no time at all, I was making them laugh and giggle with all my pug antics.

I was delighted my cousins wanted to take me for a walk around the camp ground. When we headed out, little did I know what we would discover... The Orange Creature.

At first, I wasn't quite sure what to make of the creature, never have I encountered anything like this before. Eager to meet the orange feathered critter, my Uncle gently held it as I got a closer look....

Okay, so far so good, it was time to get a little closer...

Still getting closer... (Side note... to Wilma: Sluggo and I should have a longest neck competition and Payton could be the judge, hehee).

Front paws off the ground close. As you can see, my cousin had a tight rein on the leash. She wanted to protect me from getting pecked by the creature. The Orange Creature and I both did really good at getting acquainted; she was probably trying to figure out what I was too. The Google Machine says the creature is called a pullet.

It was time to go, someone looks like being on the verge of "mad as a wet hen". Time to head back to the camp and find the lawn chair to relax.

  1. Wow, Suki! What a cool animal you met! Did it smell like the Golden Chicken that Pug describes? I just love the pictures and my mom said it is great to know that I'm not the only pug that tries to stretch out far with legs firmly planted. She said that most times it's like I'm going to topple over.
    Love,
    Payton
PS. Yes, we should have contests like that! Sunflower sisters vs. Fire Hydrant boys. I promise to be a fair and impartial judge...heehee!

  3. I second Gracie! Brave indeed! I'd probably get real low and then whine, or "cluck" as I've heard it called, until the orange thing went away.... Then, I'd probably bark at it as if to say, "Hey, come back!"

  4. Ditto what Gracie said. Mucho brave-o! You're lucky that orange pullet thing didn't peck your eyes out.

And kiddos? Those things can be scary too. They probably won't peck your eyes out or anything, but for some reason they always like to uncurl my tail. I like the big ones (especially the dudes) but the little ones can be all grabby and squealy.

    Brave pug, you are.

  5. That is awesome - even though it brought a tear to my eye! One of my co-workers has chickens and a raccoon figured out how to get the cage opened last weekend and killed 4 of them. This is the second time that happened - the first time they only lost one of the girls - about 2 years ago. They still have one ... I bet she is terrified! Their four-legged guy, Lincoln, is very gentle with the chickens - he doesn't chase them and they never bothered him, either.

  6. Hi Payton,
I hope these sweet chickens won't turn into the Golden ones like Pug & Dutch discovered.

    Suki

  7. Hi Sequoia, Tuni & Emma,

It wasn't scary at all, I think you three would even like the chickens.

    Hugs,
    Suki

  8. Hi Gracie,

You are right, I'm brave, but not sure if I'm brave like you to go over an A frame in agility.

    Hugs,
    Suki

  9. Hi Noodle,

If we had an adventure together & we encounter chickens, I would most definitely protect you from the creatures.

    Hugs,
    Suki

  10. Hi Pug,

You are the brave one! Running with the cows plus you have the great moves to ward off the lions. Sigh...

    Hugs,
    Suki

  11. Hi Ellen,

That is just horrible, how sad for the chickens and for the humans. To bad the masked bandits can't be relocated to the woods or a nature preserve.

    Hugs,
    Suki

  12. Suki, that Orange Creature looks like DINNER to me!!! You are sooo cute! What a good girl you are with Orange Creatures AND kids. I am bad with kids. I like to jump on them and knock them down. Well I don't LIKE to knock them down, it is just a natural by-product of my jumping. :(

    Later!

  13. Suki, we can't believe you don't already have a pool in Texas. It should be a law or something. Our mom had one when she lived in San Antonio, too. Just too stinking hot for so stinking long. But it made great weather for swimming.

  14. Hi Suki,
must've missed this post when Mom neglected me and worked a million days in a row. You definitely give Sluggo a run for the money with that neck of yours. You were very brave checking out that feathered friend!

Hehe, my word verification is ablog
