Day 44 of consecutive 100 plus degrees = pug & human melting weather (most of this week has been 105). This summer has been the true definition of what I call Summer Hibernation.
With no recent measurable rain in almost forever, the drought is so bad, everything is brown and crispy, especially the grass. No rain = mandatory watering schedule restrictions... watering is restricted to twice weekly between 7pm - 10pm. Get this, there is even Water Police... if your watering on the wrong day or the water goes in the street, the Water Police will come and get you or at least issue a ticket.
With everything super crispy, there is a ban on all grilling (charcoal & gas grilling) as well as no camp fires.Mom says there could be some help on the way with rain and slightly cooler temperatures, I think his name is Don.
HOLY SPAM! You Texas pugs are tough. Pugs here in SF start to melt when it gets to be +78 degrees. Hang in there... or just come here! My human keeps complaining about having to wear a fleece. I think that means it's cold.
ReplyDeleteOh my pug! You guys really are crispy. We hope Don brings rains but not too severe weather your way!
ReplyDeleteStay cool.
Drools and licks,
Minnie and Mack
Suki, I am dreaming that we are California girls after reading Pug's comment! It certainly hasn't been as hot here as it has for you down in TX, but sheesh! I'm tired of the heat and our grass is dead too. You know though, you and your feet are so cute that you don't even notice that brown grass! I'll try to do a rain dance for you guys. In the meantime, stay cool and know that we are thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Payton
I feel so badly for you guys, here in Ireland we have the opposite...it has been non-stop raining and not just your average rain but really heavy rain with strong winds and thunder and lightning....what is up with the weather lately...it seems to have gone crazy :/
ReplyDeleteLove Oisín
Watch out for the water police. We will keep our paws crossed for rain.
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Suki! My rain dance worked a little here. It just rained gently, but steady, for the last 15 minutes. Did it work in TX? Hope so. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Payton
We are hoping that Don turns to the north so Texas gets a good soaking! Our grandparents in Beeville may get some (paws crossed). They finally got some rain barrels so hopefully the rain can fill them up!
ReplyDeleteHi Pug!
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome to come and visit you! Wow, it must be great to live in a non-pug melting place.
Hugs,
Suki
Hi Minnie & Mack,
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting... waiting and waiting for the rain.
Hugs,
Suki
Hi Payton,
ReplyDeleteI think we need to pack out bags and visit the handsome Pug.
Try to stay cool & comfy. Thanks for doing the rain dance.
Hugs,
Suki
Hi Oisín,
ReplyDeleteI wish you could send some of your excess rain to Texas!
Don't blow away in the strong wind.
The weather is definitely broken.
Hugs,
Suki
Hi Mack & Murph,
ReplyDeleteThe fine from the water police is $681, Mom better not get one, that money could buy a lot of treats.
Hugs,
Suki
Hi Southern Fried Pugs,
ReplyDeleteWow! Your Grandparents live in Beeville?! Back in the day Mom use to go to dances at The Grand in Beeville. I wonder if the dance hall is still there... it was on the right side driving into town on Hwy 59.
Besides The Grand, she has been to dance halls in Cestohowa and Fall City.
Hugs,
Suki
WOW ... I thought Central Illinois has been hot but not as bad as Texas! I love summer but even I am ready for some cooler temps - and a little rain wouldn't hurt, either! Stay cool Suki!
